UN Addresses the Global Financial Issue

How do concerned organisations address the global financial crisis that we are experiencing today? There are international organisations that seek every possible solution to address the issue, which threatens the economic stability of every country. The United Nations, which was established to prevent and solve international problems and promote peace, is one of the organisations that are helping address the worldwide crisis.

According to the letter posted on un.org on October 24, 2008, the executive heads of the United Nations Board, together with the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF), held a meeting and talked about the ongoing global financial crisis and its effects on the global economy. As the global downturn and commodity prices intensify, the UN is expected to support the international community and to act on the effects of the global crisis. They said that this current problem needs immediate action to protect people, jobs, shelter, and livelihood. The UN also called for a strengthened and vigilant system to face the problem. The organisation also called the attention of international communities and asked them to protect the social, economic, environmental, and human rights aspects of the society. Doing this will lead to global unity, the key to solving the worldwide crisis. Furthermore, the UN asked all nations to reaffirm their commitment to development and humanitarian assistance. Reconsideration of a rule-based trading system is also important to achieve economic growth.
