The Effects of Global Financial Crisis to Workers
Global financial crisis affects not only businessmen but also ordinary people. It’s true that such a crisis is experienced by those who own businesses. However, the end result of such a crisis is generally felt by the workers.
According to the International Labour Organisation (ILO), the primary result of the global financial crisis is job layoffs. This is also the prediction made by a labour representative. Because of this conclusion, according to Roy Trotman of the ILO, workers belonging to the lower strata will sink further into the depths of society. Such a crisis will also obstruct the plan projected by the Millennium Development Goals to alleviate the condition of those who suffer from poverty. It will also impede the plan to annihilate hunger that most lower class workers experience. The crisis will also result in minimum wage earners finding it difficult to meet their basic needs, which eventually branches into other serious problems. Immigrant workers are also affected by this crisis, as well as workers’ retirement security, which was in the process of being patched up.
It is relatively evident that everybody is affected by the negative outcomes that the global financial crisis has. Fortunately, opportunities never cease, and although the financial crisis is deemed to be disastrous, there are still ways to lighten its effects. Saving and spending money properly are just some of the possible tactics that will surely work.
